Hi Yuva ,we have arranged a trek to Kalavantindurg on Wednesday 26th Jan 2011
Type: Hill Fort
Height: 2330 Feet above MSL (Approx)
Grade: Medium (Grade: 3)
Base Village: Thakurwadi
Region: Panvel
Kalavantin Durg is situated on northeast side of Panvel, on Mumbai-Pune road. Can see it from express highway a V-Shaped one. The Left one is Kalwantin Durg & right side is Prabalgad.The fort top commands an excellent view of the surroundings with Prabal in the front. Matheran, Chanderi, Shrimallang, Irshal Karnala, Manikgad, etc can be easily identified.Kalavantin durg is a adjoining hill (pinnacle) to Prabalgad.
The tentative itinerary for the Trek is as given below:
We start with the early morning Train towards Panvel (according to the timings given below.)
Meeting Point : Panvel Station 7.00 am on Wednesday 26 Jan 2011
Breakfast and reach the base village in next an hour or so..
Introduction, instructions and start the trek.
Reach the top in 3-4 hrs. Lunch break.
Explore the fort and start descending by 1pm.
Reach the base till 5 pm.
Start our return journey and reach Mumbai by 9 pm tentatively.
The cost for the trek is Rs 175/- per head
Which include Travelling from Panvel to Panvel, Breakfast and evening refreshments.
Things To Be carried:

Some ready to eat food. Plum cakes, Biscuits etc.
A bottle of water (atleast 2 Ltrs),
Camera(Optional)Cap, etc.
Medicine those if u require usually (Optional)
Good trekking shoes,
A haversack to put in all the things to be carried....so that one has ones hands free while trekking.
Please do not carry sling bags or Jholas.
Please avoid wearing Gold and other ornaments.

Machi Prabal is an ancient and beautiful village. It is situated half-way up a mountain (such a plateau or ledge is called a "machi" in Marathi) at the base of the fort Prabalgad. Because of the two forts Prabalgad and Kalavantin and the natural beauty of the surrounding regions, many visitors and fort-enthusiasts are attracted to this place.
